Curtain Guide

What's a pleated curtain?

A pleated curtain is the most common type of curtain and is characterized by its tightly pleated top edge. The curtain can be mounted on a rail or rod and the pleats are created by a curtain hook on the back. Pleated curtains are a perfect choice if you want a more classic look and can be hung on a curtain rail as well as on a curtain rod. The curtain also does not expand as much as a wave curtain.

What's a wave curtain?

A wave curtain is, as it sounds, a curtain that creates beautiful and deep waves, giving a modern and sophisticated look. The even spacing of the waves is most easily achieved on a curtain track with gliding points attached at even distances on a string. Wave curtains are often used to cover larger window areas and are often sewn in sheer fabrics that let in the light while blocking out the view. A wave curtain extends more from the wall than a pleated curtain, but is somewhat easier to bring together into a narrow panel if needed.

How do I measure and mount a pleated curtain?

A pleated curtain protrudes minimally from the wall. Install the curtain so there are 3-4 centimeters of clearance from the wall or window sill. If you plan to install overlapping pleated curtains, make sure to also leave 3-4 cm between the curtains so they can hang freely.

How do I measure and mount a wave curtain?

Wave curtains are more pronounced than pleated curtains. Ensure roughly 8-10 centimeters of clearance on both sides of the curtain rod or track.
